Getting Around Memphis

The Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) has a total of 35 trolley station/stops.
A wonderful way to see Memphis at $3.25 per day or $8 for a 3-day pass!
The trolleys combine Memphis' rich past with its optimistic future as patrons are transported to some of downtown's most notable destinations.
All the intricate details of the old trolleys have been faithfully restored to their original elegance - down to the solid brass seat and window accents, rare "glue-chip" glass transom windows, hand-carved mahogany corbels, and antique lighting fixtures.

Memphis - Orpheum Theatre

Tour the historical theatre built in 1890 or see a show. The Orpheum was originally the Grand Opera House and billed as the classiest theatre outside of New York City. The Grand became part of the Orpheum Circuit of vaudeville shows in 1907, thus the theatre became known as the Orpheum.

This pink marble mansion was originally intended as a private residence. The museum is home to a fascinating collection of art and exhibits. Memphis - Sun Studio

Tour the most famous recording studio in the world. Recently designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service, Sun Studio offers guided tours of its Museum Gallery and Recording Studio.
This is where Elvis recorded his first song. You can even touch the first microphone he used! It's also the studio that launched the careers of greats such as B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash.
Open daily from 10 AM ’til 6 PM.
