for the entire family. The venues selected have been highly recommended by the
community to offer the best experiences during your stay in the Bar Harbor area.
The Whale Watch Cruise and DownEast
Lobster Bake are planned group events by Encore. We are accepting reservations

Adventure: Whale Watch Excursion Sunday, October 5 from Noon - 4pm Registration
Form Step aboard the Fastest, Largest, Most Luxurious
Jet Powered Whale Watching Catamaran, the Friendship V! The 112' long and 31'
wide vessel offers state-of-the-art amenities and the one-of-a-kind experience
you and your family are looking for. Equipped with the latest navigation and communications
equipment, and propelled by water jets, it is safe for the whales, environment.
Our group will be aboard with a professional naturalist and crew to maximize your
whale adventure. The vessel features three outside decks, two fully heated cabins,
cushioned seating, diner style tables, a well-stocked galley offering a wide variety
of hot and cold foods. All food is prepared fresh on board, and bar service is
available. Encounters typically include: Finbacks, Humpbacks, and Minke Whales
and they have great luck at sighting the rare Right Whales and pilot whales, dolphins,
and basking sharks. In addition, Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, and Peregrine Falcons
are known to nest here. Recommended attire: Dress warmly; a sweater or jacket
and gloves will be welcome if you intend to spend time on any of the three outside
decks. You may wish to wear rubber-soled shoes and bring your sunscreen and sunglasses.

Paste Paper Workshop Wednesday, October 8 6:30pm
- 8pm Collectable books often featured paste paper pages or end covers.
Today paste papers are used for art projects such as art cards, altered books
and handmade boxes. Each paper is one of a kind and you will make at least a dozen
papers! This class filled up very quickly during Bar Harbor's Legacy of the Arts
week. So, have an early dinner and join gallery owner Sherry Rasmussen in an evening
of art! (Note: there must be a minimum of three students to hold the class and

the protected waters of Frenchman Bay. From the shear granite cliffs of Schooner
Head to the smooth rock beaches behind Ironbound Island, you'll see a rugged maritime
landscape etched by glaciers and battered by sea & wind. Yet, despite the
harsh environment, seals still haul out on the ledges of Flanders Bay to warm
up and raise their pups. Eagles still build nests along the shores of the Porcupine
Islands and porpoises still surface unexpectedly in the bay for a few breaths
of air. See magnificent summer homes, Egg Rock Lighthouse, and wonderful views

Rock
Climbing in Acadia National Park The sea cliffs of Acadia National Park
offer some of the most stunning rock climbing found anywhere in the U.S. - and

Biking
in Acadia National Park Acadia National Park and the surrounding Maine
communities offer a truly spectacular setting for the bicycling enthusiast or
professional alike. The Park has approximately 45 miles of suitable road surfaces
comprised of the famous Carriage Roads (financed and directed by John D. Rockefeller,
Jr., between 1913 and 1940) and portions of paved motor vehicle roadways. Carriage
Roads wind through the heart of the park and have crushed rock surfaces.

Brewing Co. Estate Brewery The Atlantic Brewing Company invites you to

Oceanarium
and Lobster Hatchery This is the real thing ... these people and the lobster
fishermen in the area are actually raising little lobsters to release in local
waters - they have turned loose hundreds of thousands. You get a chance to see
the whole operation, plus they have the Maine Lobster Museum right there, too.
The Museum has games to play while you learn.

Tour
Acadia National Park with Range-Led Programs Learn more about Acadia National
Park by joining a park ranger on a walk, campfire program, hike, boat cruise,
or one of the many other programs offered from mid-May to mid-October. Some
programs require advanced reservations. See program descriptions for more information.
Most programs are free. A number of programs are wheelchair accessible; check

Abbe Museum: Dedicated
to an appreciation and understanding of the Native Americans of Maine with a permanent
collection of more than 50,000 objects representing 10,000 years of culture. Alone
Moose Fine Crafts: Alone Moose Fine Crafts shows fine art and craft by leading
Maine artists. Award winning bronze and wood wildlife sculpture, decorative pottery,
gold and silver jewelry, wildlife and seascape paintings are featured at the island's
oldest Made in Maine gallery conveniently located on the West Street waterfront
near the Bar Harbor Club. Judy
Taylor Studio & Gallery: Judy Taylor studio and gallery, located in Southwest
Harbor, is a working studio and teaching atelier with works ranging from landscapes
and townscapes of coastal and interior Maine to more classical renderings in oil
of the figure and portrait. She was an Acadia National Park artist-in-residence
and her work is included in many private and corporate collections. The
Oceanarium: Learn about the ocean, marshes, and their inhabitants. You'll
see lobsters and have their life cycle explained at the Lobster Hatchery and the
Lobster Museum. There is a Gift Shop for special items related to the Maine coast.
There are two locations - one in Bar Harbor and the other in Southwest Harbor,
both on Mount Desert Island, Maine. Sieur
de Monts Spring: The Sieur de Monts Spring plays a significant role in the
history of Acadia National Park. It got its name from an early 1600's Lieutenant
Governor of New France. This location, with its 1909 Springhouse built by the
original Park's Superintendent, George B. Dorr, has come to symbolize the enthusiasm
and contributions of Dorr and other early twentieth century citizens in the creation
and preservation of Acadia National Park. This location includes part of the Abbe
Museum, The Nature Center, and The Wild Gardens of Acadia. The
Wendall Gilley Museum: A major showcase for the bird carvings of one of the
3 world renown pioneers of the art form - Wendell Gilley. Located in Southwest
