TELLURIDE GOLF CLUB

Located 9,564 feet above sea level and surrounded by 13,000-foot peaks, the Telluride Golf Club is one of the highest in the world. This 18-hole links-styled championship course travels through a variety of terrain - through thickly wooded areas, around wetlands and ponds, and over streams with frequent views of elk, deer and red fox. Neatly manicured turf, brass yardage signs and paved cart paths lead players through our par 70/71 course with views of Wilson Peak and Sunshine Mesa, the San Sophias, with the La Sal Mountains of Utah in the distance. To fine-tune the strokes, the Telluride Golf Club staff Offers PGA professional instruction in private and group settings daily. Before 2 pm: $175, After 2 pm: $99, After 4 pm: $59.

TENNIS AT THE PEAKS
The Peaks Resort offers five tennis courts. Clinics and lessons can be made directly through The Peaks. On site tennis pros are available.

RIVER RAFTING
Fast-action San Miguel rafting requires constant maneuvering and excellent teamwork. Although there are no major rapids or falls, the gradient is steep and splashy. Grab a paddle and jump in the raft! Morning and afternoon trips are available daily. Transportation is provided to and from Telluride and Mountain Village. The river run is approximately 2 hours on class II-III water.

KAYAKING
Kayaking down the Dolores River is an exciting combination of fast paced rapids and peaceful eddies. Join us in an inflatable kayak and experience first hand the pure power of the river! Kayaks provide stability and control to novices but maneuver easily enough to thrill the most daring of experts. Expert instructors ensure everyone will quickly learn the basics of inflatable kayaking. If you're up for it, you'll be surfing waves and riding holes in no time.

NATURE WALK, HIKE or HERB WALKS
Many trails begin right in the towns of Telluride and Mountain Village, and dozens of other trailheads
are found within a 20-mile radius. Wildflowers peak around mid-July. A large selection of hikes designed
to fit every fitness level, are guided by the Golden Door Spa staff. Historic walking tours will give you and your guests a tour of the National Historic Landmark District of Telluride. Whatever you are looking for, spectacular mountain views or historical scenery, Telluride has it. Whether you choose a leisurely walk around town or a long climb in the high country, you will learn to identify regional plants. Your guide is a local expert on medicinal and edible plants and mushrooms. The tour will teach the culinary uses, medicinal cures, poisonous species and folklore.

HISTORIC TOUR
This informative tour is a wonderful introduction to Telluride's historic past. An experienced guide describes
the history of the town and its growth from frontier mining outpost to world-class ski destination. View the Galloping Goose, explore historic buildings and learn about Telluride's ghosts through colorful stories about Butch Cassidy, Jack Dempsey, frontier Madams and 'ladies of the evening'.

DURANGO SILVERTON
NARROW GAUGE RAILROAD

Relive history with the sights and sounds of yesteryear for a truly spectacular journey on board a coal-fired, steam powered locomotive. You will ride on the same tracks miners, cowboys and settlers took over a century ago. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad winds through spectacular and breath-taking canyons in the remote wilderness of the two million acre San Juan National Forest for an unforgettable year-round adventure.

BIRD WATCHING

ROCK CLIMBING
Climbing trips are a San Juan Mountains signature experience. If you want to enjoy the beauty of the Telluride region while having the adventure of a lifetime, then rock climbing is for you. This is a chance to learn basic climbing and belay skills so that you actively participate in every aspect of the climbing process. Climbs range from gentle to difficult and are tailored to the group so that all that participate will have a chance to be challenged. An opportunity for first times climbers!

This unique experience requires a reservation. An experienced climbing instructor will take the beginner through an informative introduction to basic climbing skills including technique, safety, knot tying and belaying. The more experienced climber will learn techniques specific to his or her skill level. This 60-minute climbing experience is wonderful as a private, family or group lesson.


HOT AIR BALLOONING
With a mighty roar from the burners you can experience the earliest form of air travel. As you drift along, your pilot will usually ascend to an altitude that will provide a great overview of the surrounding terrain. At points, you will drift at tree top level in order to experience the countryside, engage in conversations with the people below and enjoy sightings of area wildlife.

GLIDERS
"Getting air" is the obvious goal for some skiers and snowboarders, but how about gliding through the air hundreds of feet above the slopes in a glider plane, with only the wind thermals to keep you afloat? Soar into the tranquil skies above Telluride for some of the most fabulous views and breathtaking scenery in Colorado; you can silently glide like an eagle over Telluride and the glorious San Juan's.

PARAGLIDING
Experience the next best thing to having wings as you soar high above the Telluride valley with an experienced USHGA Tandem instructor. Adrenaline junkies can launch off the top of Gold Hill at the ski area summit with a 3,500+ descent and catch a bird's eye view of towering peaks, plush alpine mesas and the historic town of Telluride as they soar back to town. $242



MOUNTAIN BIKING
Mountain biking is a popular and exciting way to experience the magnificent Telluride high country. Pedal a mountain bike through spectacular high country along the historic route of the Galloping Goose railway. Our guided tour begins on Lizard Head Pass, at over 10,000 ft. We descend the magnificent South Fork Valley of the San Miguel River, traveling across 17 miles of downhill and level terrain. A snack and drink are provided at the end of the tour. Knowledgeable guides can accommodate levels of ability from intermediate to expert on a variety of trails ranging from wide jeep roads to tight single tracks.

HOT SPRINGS
