Santa
Catalina Ranger District - Coronado NF: 0 mile
Tucson, AZ
Located adjacent to metropolitan Tucson, the Santa Catalina's are
the most heavily visited mountain range in the Coronado National
Forest.
Buenos
Aires National Wildlife Refuge: 10 miles
Tucson, AZ
The refuge is an excellent birding destination. Endangered species
include masked bobwhite, pima pineapple cactus, kearney bluestar,
jaguar, and peregrine falcon. The refuge also has the westernmost
population of Chiracahua leopard frog and one of two U.S. populations
of Underwood's mastiff bat.
Tumacacori National
Historical Park: 12 miles
Tumacacori, AZ
This historic Spanish Catholic mission building stands near the
site first visited by Jesuit Father Kino in 1691.
Tubac
Presidio State Historic Park: 13 miles
Tumacacori, AZ
In Arizona's scenic southern desert, along the Santa Cruz River,
lies Tubac Presidio. Within the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park
are the remnants of a military fort founded by the Spanish in 1752.
The park is 45 miles south of Tucson off Interstate 19 near the
community of Tubac.
Sonoita
Creek State Natural Area: 21 miles
Nogales, AZ
Totaling almost 5,000 acres, Sonoita Creek is Arizona's first major
state natural area. The site is in the southeastern portion of the
state and aims to preserve a unique riparian area.

Ranger District - Coronado NF: 23 miles
Nogales, AZ
The Santa Rita Mountains and Mt. Wrightson Wilderness both lie within
the bounds of this mountainous district.
Patagonia
Lake State Park: 23 miles
Nogales, AZ
Patagonia Lake is tucked away in the rolling hills of southeast
Arizona. Entry to the park is from State Highway 82 between Patagonia
and Nogales. At two and a half miles long and 250 surface acres,
Patagonia Lake is popular for a variety of recreational activities,
including water skiing, fishing, camping, picnicking and hiking.
Arizona Trail: 27 miles
Patagonia, AZ
The Arizona Trail will eventually span the state from north to south,
a full 750 miles. The trail will start at the Arizona-Utah border
in the north and enter the Kaibab National Forest via Orderville
Canyon.
Saguaro National
Park: 49 miles
Tucson, AZ
Saguaro National Park protects and preserves the giant saguaro cactus
forest in the Sonoran Desert near Tucson. These cacti, which can
reach a height of 50 feet, cover the valley floor and are unique
to the Sonoran Desert.
Kartchner
Caverns State Park: 51 miles
Saint David, AZ
Kartchner Caverns is a stunning limestone cave in southern Arizona.
The park offers visitors to this very popular attraction, both a
Cave tour and an opportunity to experience the site's excellent
Discovery Center.
Coronado National
Memorial: 53 miles
Hereford, AZ
Our Hispanic heritage and the first European exploration of the
Southwest by Francisco Vasquez de Coronado in 1540-42, are commemorated
here, near the point where Coronado's expedition entered what is
now the United States.
Rincon
Mountain Wilderness Area: 56 miles
Mount Lemmon, AZ
The 38,590-acre National Forest portion of the Rincon Mountain Wilderness
borders the Saguaro National Monument on three sides and remains
pleasantly remote in spite of the fact that it is relatively close
to Tucson.
Sierra
Vista Ranger District - Coronado NF: 60 miles
Hereford, AZ
The Sierra Vista Ranger District contains approximately 310,000
acres and includes the Huachuca, Patagonia and Whetstone Mountains
as well as the Canelo Hills.
Pusch
Ridge Wilderness Area: 60 miles
Mount Lemmon, AZ
Pusch Ridge towers over Tucson and the surrounding desert as one
of the most prominent features of the Santa Catalina Mountains.
Tombstone
Courthouse State Historic Park: 62 miles
Tombstone, AZ
Visitors to the park will be exposed to a building with a glut of
historic significance in the shaping of the area since its construction
in 1882. The park is located in the town of Tombstone in southeast
Arizona.
Catalina
State Park: 63 miles
Tucson, AZ
Catalina State Park sits at the base of the majestic Santa Catalina
Mountains, just north of the Tucson area. The park provides miles
of equestrian, birding and hiking trails which wind through the
park and into the Coronado National Forest.
