Bill Howie,
MS, CRNA.
Bill
Howie has an extensive background in nursing and nurse anesthesia. Mr.
Howie holds Master of Science degrees in both Emergency Health Care Administration
and Nurse Anesthesia. Since 1995, he has been a CRNA at the R. Adams Cowley
Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD. Duties at the Trauma Center include
provision of anesthetic services to victims of acute trauma. Secondary
duties performed by Mr. Howie include serving as a member of the Quality
Assurance Committee, and a participation in the "Go Team". In
that position he periodically is called upon to provide accident scene
trauma care.
In addition
to his practice as a nurse anesthetist, Mr. Howie is an Adjunct Assistant
Professor for the Nurse Anesthesia Program at the Uniformed Services University
of the Health Sciences, an ACLS Instructor and a CCRN. A Captain in the
United States Army Reserve, Mr. Howie has published an article for the
American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Journal on legal issues in
nurse anesthesia. His article on anesthetic management of necrotizing
fasciitis is to be published shortly in that journal.
