Skip Draper is an itinerant lecturer with diverse and interesting
perspectives which contribute a balanced and colorful element to the Encore
Symposiums Faculty. His topics and tactics reflect a diversity and richness
of background and personality.
Specialty
topics include such areas as neuraxial anesthetics, upper and lower extremity
regional anesthesia techniques, anesthesia history and wilderness medicine.
His career started in Houston, Texas as a critical care Registered Nurse
at the Texas Heart Institute, specializing in cardiac transplantation
and artificial heart technology. Skip holds a Bachelors of Science in
Nursing degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston
and a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia degree from Baylor College
of Medicine. Upon completion of his training, Skip joined the faculty
of the Anesthesia Department at the University of Texas Medical Branch
in Galveston and contracted as an independent practitioner at The University
of Texas Health Sciences Center Houston. After years of "big city
life", he selected rural Southern Oregon as his preferred place of
residence and practice. Skip currently splits his attention between his
contract anesthesia company "Skip Draper Anesthesia Services"
and his professional photography business "SpinDogImages.com"
both of which are based in Grants Pass, Oregon.
In addition to his anesthesia career, Skip is a committed wilderness
explorer and a passionate adventure

. An avid student of light, he is known to arise well before the Sun and
snowshoe or hike for hours to the most remote of locations in search of
the perfect image. "In the field of adventure photography, as in
life, it is all about the journey. The inspiring images are merely documentation
of the True splendor of nature."
Skip's other interests include survival trekking, white water rafting,
the studies of history, computer technology, science, and nature, as well
as an eclectic taste in reading and music.
