Michael Rieker,
CRNA, DNP
Michael
Rieker began his nursing career in the adult and pediatric trauma ICUs
at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX. He received his anesthesia
education at Rush University in Chicago, and has been a CRNA since 1994.
His career has included numerous years of locum tenens work, which took
him to all corners of the country and gave him experience in every type
of anesthesia setting. He returned to Rush to further his education,completing
the DNP degree there. Using the administrative and leadership skills he
learned at Rush, he served as the Chief CRNA for Obstetrics at Methodist
Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois, where he developed a passion for OB
anesthesia. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Nurse Anesthesia
Program at highly-ranked Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
He remains actively involved in classroom and clinical teaching. His publication
credits include Anesthesia and Analgesia, AANA Journal, Current Reviews
for Nurse Anesthetists, and a book chapter in Nurse Anesthesia Secrets.
He serves as a medico-legal consultant and expert witness, and is a frequent
invited lecturer at state and national professional conferences.
