Everglades National Park covers 1.5 million acres of South Florida. The closest entrance is Everglade City.

Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. The area boasts rare and endangered species, such as the American Crocodile, Florida Panther, and West Indian Manatee. In many areas of the park, trails allow you to explore the diversity of habitats within South Florida. While exploring the park be sure to bring plenty of water and be aware of changing weather conditions. A variety of land trails offers visitors opportunities for leisurely walks, extended hikes, and bicycle treks. All boardwalk trails in the park are wheelchair accessible.

A 2.25-mile raised boardwalk takes visitors through four distinct environments; a pine upland, a wet prairie, a cypress forest and a marsh. The interpretive signs along the boardwalk, field guide, and children's activity book, available at the Admissions Desk, allows each visitor to take a self-guided tour. Wildlife sightings vary depending on the time of the year, the weather, and even the time of day. Birds, reptiles, mammals, insects and a variety of native plants including wild orchids may be seen from the boardwalk.
